Limited Run Games had another big release today with their physical release of Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee on PlayStation Vita. Unfortunately, things didn’t go so well for many hopeful collectors. Limited Run had a Collector’s Edition and a Standard Edition Of the game, but neither one lasted more than a minute.
The game had a fairly decent print run, with 2,000 and 3,000 units, respectively. The good news is that there is still a small glimmer of hope. You can open up a support ticket and get on the publisher’s waiting list. Now, this is a very slim chance, but it’s still a chance.
Limited Run sets a limited to how many copies each person can buy, and it looks like many people broke this limited. It’s too bad we get some bad apples in this hobby that try to ruin it for everyone else. I have been successful at getting myself a copy of every Limited Run release that I wanted, but this week was different. Oh well, you can’t get them all. But, like I said, some bad actors broke the rules so, that means that some of those copies will be back on their site for sale in the near future. If you’re not lucky with the waiting list, your only other option is eBay. It’s unfortunate, but when a product is both popular and limited you can’t really stop the scalpers. It’s almost like a double edge sword. You want a company like Limited Run to do well, but the more their popularity grows the harder it will become to secure a copy for their hotter releases.
